Just saying hello!

( Oh boy, am I new to all this )
Bought an Elise S1 (2000) a week or so ago.
Using it daily back and forth to work - a real experience but having a real blast too!

I've got so many questions my head hurts.

You all seem a very knowledgeable and friendly bunch - hopefully I can do a lot of serious tapping of brains.

Thanks for the reply Mart.

Well, I'm just taking it as easy as possible at the moment. Work is about a 20 mile drive from home with a roundabout every mile on average (no exaggeration).

Just getting used to the general 'ambience' of the car, i.e. whine, knock, creak, squeak.

I have to own up right now and say that this is the first 'real' car I've ever driven. It's been a selection of old tat over the years, but more recently VW golf's and *cringe* Bora. Nothing fancy - just the base models.

Despite the carp weather, I'm seriously enjoying the experience - although I feel that I'm on a bit of a steep learning curve. On my first drive to work I fell foul of the soaking wet radiator steaming problem - and yes, like a muppet I pulled into the nearest lay-by.

But just when I think me and the car are over the first getting to know each other period something else crops up!

Oh yes, I just know I'm going to fall for every newbie pitfall in the book .

Still, I'll own up to it all - maybe someone might learn from my mistakes. There are MANY more on the way I'm sure.

Welcome to the

Steaming rad is wicked - one of the true joys of winter driving in the 'liz. Very funny when stopping at pedestrian crossings and people point at it like "IT'S GONNA BLOW!"

Good choice, take it easy in the wet and take care not to get it's tail wagging.

Welcome 2-bit,

My first year of elise ownership and the PHers have been a godsend.

Quite a keen "tinkerer" myself so once you start on the slippery modifications slope - post some questions 'cos I'm sure someone will have done it - lost the skin to prove it, and will have gained lots of useful honest advice in the process.

Hello Richard

Where abouts are you in South Wales?

I'm in Cardiff and so is Steff (he's a him by the way despite his feminine name )

We both have Azure Blue S1's

You should get yourself along to the Club Lotus meets which are at the Ty Nant pub in Morganstown on the second Thursday of each month.

There are lots of knowledgeable owners there who can help you out with any queries.

I organise a lot of runs for the club which usually involve some fantastic roads areound the Brecon Beacons so you will have to come along.

I will post the details of the next run once I've worked it out.

There are is also lots of information on www.british-cars.com and www.seloc.co.uk

Hi Davey - I'm in Thornhill. Funny - I keep seeing a blue S1 driving around this way. Flashed me out of a junction off Excalibur Drive last Monday afternoon!
Was that you or Steff?
