I have been looking at 4 seaters (TVR Cerbra/Porker 911) as my wife and I are expecting our first baby in June, but I can’t bring myself to sell the Elise (I will shortly be buying the wife a 4 door car) - can you get a baby seat to fit in the Elise, the wife will have to walk .

Yes you can. Steff regularly takes his 1 year old daughter out in his and amazingly she still sleeps despite the Janspeed, CRP and Hurricane.

Yes you can - but if you look in the Elise handbook it does say about NOT carrying children under the age of 6 and NO baby seats - I guess they are just covering themselves here - I manage to squeeze my 4 year old in her child seat in my Elise on the odd occasion, Mrs N does not like it though i.e. she considers that the car would offer very little protection in an accident.

I carry my 2 year old in my s1 in a Brittax, she loves it and screams "roundaboooouuuuuut" as we go anwhere near a roundbout and "weeeeeeeeeeeeeee" as we go round one!
Try some out some are broader than others. The baby seat also make a nice elbow rest!

Had a customer with an MX-5 with an 18 month old toddler - Britax Eclipse from Halfords was the solution. May suit the Elise also?

Should be a child seat "expert" at larger Halfords branches - seek them out.

She's only 7 months old !

And does manage to sleep over the noise of the Janspeed and cat by-pass....

I think its a Graco seat which also clips onto the buggy.

Just need to get her a sheepskin flying helmet and goggles for the summer now.

Do you think you could do away with the baby seat for a toddler if you had harnesess .mind you he might not be able to see out of the window, could be scary !

Er no a toddler would be too small so the harness straps would just fall off their shoulders.

I've kept the old 3 point belt as well as my harnesses for the passenger side for this reason and I use the 3 point to strap the baby seat in.

I use a Recaro seat for my little guy, he loves it and it even has built in speakers!

Have a look at a Demon Tweeks catalogue, you wont be disappointed

a guy called Shaun posted this on the VX forum -

"I chum of mine (works at thatcham and formally in the safety research dept for an F1 team) made the following comments:

No child under 15 should travel in the VX because of danger of submarining (shape of the seat and position of seatbelts mounting)

No child seat or booster cushion should be used which uses the VX seat belt to hold the child in place because of the potential fatal damage the seat bealt pre tensoners will do to a childs chest/ abdomin. (real blow as I've just purchased a pair of Recaro child seats for wifes car)

A child seat which only uses the VX belt to anchor the child seat is OK if the childseat has harnesses.

Both my boys now use their old Britax Freeway (seven year old can just fit into the harness because he is slim)."

I will be joining the "daddy" ranks in a few months and will do anything not to get rid of the VX!

There are no seatbelt pretensioners in the S1 I'm not sure about the S2.

In the standard S1 there's a gnats c0ck thickness of foam on the seats so submaring wont be a problem!
