I would think so at that price. Probably a former write off. Either that or he has missed a 1 off the figure

If it was straight he could walk into any dealers in the country and sell it for £15k straight away.

Sounds very odd - never seen a '111S' like that badge on the back of that one either. But the guy has decent feedback - could just be a mistake.

Guess that will be another account that had been hacked and an attempt to defraud a buyer. If you look at the sellers previous items (which I know isn't really a true indication) this was somewhat different.

Given the lack of detail in the advert too it looked dodgy.

There is a spate of this at the moment. Hijacking someone's ebay account that has good feedback and trying to sell an expensive item to maximise profit/duping.

Be careful out there.....

This is the reply i got when i asked why the car was so cheap.

Dear Sir,

I had to pause the listing on ebay because I've almost reached an agreement with a local potential buyer. Unfortunately, it looks like there are some problems and he doesn't have all money to pay, for the moment. Therefore, if you are willing to pay the buy-it-now price £9000 for the bike I'm ready to do the transaction with you, I'll pay the shipping and insurance.
Regarding the item, you should know that the bike is in excellent condition, mechanically and aesthetically intact, no damages, no hidden defects, it has only 12500 miles.
Although my ebay account was initiated in United Kingdom, I'm located in Italy for the moment and I'm willing to ship the item from here through Lufthansa Air Cargo and cover the shipping and insurance fees to your location in UK. The total price is £9000 shipping included. The price is low because I need some money to rearrange a store here in Torino, and I thought selling this bike on Ebay would be a good idea.
I would like our deal to be supervised by eBay and Square Trade. I prefer to receive the payment by wire transfer and this way I can arrange the shipping the same day that I validate the transfer. In case we have a deal I will notify eBay transactions department so they can inform you about my reliability and how we can proceed with this transaction in a 100% safe way.
If you are further interested in purchasing the Lotus (it has a clear title) please let me know your position as soon as possible, to start an Ebay secure transaction, in which you will be 100% protected.

Let me know your decision as soon as possible

Never heard a 111S described as a bike before.

I've never bought or sold anything on ebay but I dont think I would ever look at anything which cost more than a couple of hundred quid.

Ebay have removed the listing. I got the same reply and have heard of this problem before.

total an utter scam. Another good one is duping sellers with "I'd like to buy your car for £5000 however I only have a draft for £10,000. Could you transfer the £5000 change and I will give you the £10,000 draft"

How do they get away with it?

Simple. People are just plain greedy. Always work on the maxim that if something is too good to be true, it is !
