The front end of my s2 is rattling increasingly over bumps.

Now i know they all make big noise over sharp bumps but it now makes rattles over smooth but frequent bumps like you find on a crappy sretch of lumpy tarmac that has no holes. its done 14000miles now. surely the suspension isnt failing already? its under an extended warranty. Or could nuts be lossening off - or does that just never happen?

driving dynamics are as yet not noticably different.

any ideas welcome guys cheers

If under warranty then i would use it on both postings - get it straight back into the dealer, let them worry about it, thats what you have paid for.

I have an S1 87,000 miles.

Here is what I am aware of.
Rattle at front - Green uns brake pads (no rubber pads to help fit). Just had second set of Green uns and a good friend of mine ensured a good fit and the rattle has gone competeley.

Metalic Snooker ball sound - I belive this is Shocks/front bushes. I have lived with this for 4 years. Steve Williams checked front end many times and all good.

Get the supplying garage to inspect.

How Old is your car? Does it stand alot? If you leave it standing use it more.

Hi, i did have a noise the very same as you described, but not on the Elise, but you are describing it as I remember, so thought i would mention anyway.

It turned out to be the anti-roll bar, i don't know if this can be a source of your noise on the Elise.

thanks for the feedback guys. I wouldnt mind so much about these characteristics...but this isnt one as it has developed gradually and wasnt there from the beginning!

I took the front wheels off yesterday and was surprised to see spaces between the upper wishbone arns and the aluminium plates of the chassis. there was a single bush on each side which is disappointing. I would expect there to be one between every gap and there to be metal washers to stop rubber rubbiong against the arms as the car goes over bumps.....

....or is this normal or have some off mine perished and now allow more free play and there knocking noises?

cheers

taking it to dealer tomorrow. dont trust the ba..tards though.

Mate, is it me or have you had a lot of 'niggly' issues with this car or what?

I'd be back on the doorstep of the dealer you bought it from with a very red face and wanting some serious customer service.

Is it under warranty?
