As of today Hellmans in the water bottle and the Engine on the way to work..

Doh poor old DVO. Dreading the cost. I hope the AA parts & labour covers this.

I have had DVO from new in Sept 99 and use her every day with 87,246 on the clock.

I would be grateful if you all in Seloc could help in recomending any measures to put in place to reduce the risk of HGF in the future for e.g.:

1) Remote stat
2) Improved CH Gasget

Any other please advise.

I hope to be mobile in DVO soon.

Many Thanks in advance.

Good head gasket and get the liner heights right and you really shouldn't have any problems.

The liners should sit between 3 and 6 thou proud of the block face. If they're too high they need lapping in with grinding paste. Bit of a PITA but get it right and you've got a much better chance of avoiding future HGF.

Martin, I would love to, this is on my wish list. 2 Kids and the wife wanting a new L200 Warrior mean I will have to wait a long time.

Damn good advice though.

The Cost justification would be I will be using DVO for another 100,000 miles and that could be 10 HGF so 10 times £1000 is £10,000 yep a Honda conversion.
