Hello,
If you de-cat your car and are not handy with tools you will have to pay someone at a garage at lease £50 every MOT, Have you got a sport zorst? if so when de-cating your motor you will find it may be to loud for track days as some circuits like castle coombe are verty strict! Also if you have a variable valve engine (111s) decating your car upsets the back pressure and u may lose power.
Why are you de-cating? if its for extra sound have you tried a sports zorst, & or induction kit (ITG or hurracaine seem best) i did both the above plus 52mm alloy throttle body and found the results perfect! Adding more throttle response, great noise and a little more power.
hope this helps a little.

Depends on how handy you are with some basic tools.
If you don't mind getting under the car once a year for the MOT and swapping the cat/de-cat then go for it. some words of advice though, if your gonna remove the cat make sure you do/have the following:
soak the cat nuts and studs with WD40 the night before you do the work, makes life much easier.
a normal length (300mm) ratchet might not give you enough leaverage to un-do the rusted nuts so buy a breaker bar from machine mart (£12ish) and this will un-do them.
removing the nearside wheel also helps with access to the cat nuts.
once the cat is out, press out the studs with an engineers vice (its a tw*t of a job to do but makes life much easier when it comes to MOT time) sports cats give a little increase in volume and reduce back pressure and are MOT friendly.
Get a de-cat fitted, more noise and a little more power too!
