Is there difference between the sounds of the std, 111S and R elises?
My dealer told me that the S had a special valve system on one side opening around 3500 rpm.
It looks like that everybody want to change the exhaust anyway. Where is the truth?

The 111 (S is just the extra equipment) does have an exhaust with a valve.
Up to 4000rpm and if you press less than 75% of the throttle you can barely hear the exhaust.
Above that the valve opens and it makes a better fruitier louder sound.

Making the valve be open at all times is a 60seconds job.

How do you lock the valve open at all times Nick?

I have copied below the instructions as were posted on seloc http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=43202&page=1#pid623645
by fellow member JK.

"Look down the right hand side of the engine bay (as viewed fron behind the car)
Locate the black vaccum vessel tucked at the side
There are two flexible orange rubber pipes that come out of the vessel. The shorter one is connected to a smaller diameter black pipe.
Simply pull the two apart and block the ends of each the orange and black pipes to prevent dirt getting in.
Start your engine and that's it
To reverse the modification simple re-connect the two pipes. Yuo do not need to touch the longer orange pipe. "

If you have any queries you can check the link as JK has also posted some photos.
Or I can email them to you.

Enjoy the extra noise...
