Gave up fecking about with that b@stard bolt and took el Beast to Sinclaires yesterday.

Oh how I laughed my arse off last night on the way home (the very, very, very long way)!

To be honest when I first drove away I wasn't that aware of any difference . Driving out to the M25 in traffic I was initially a little disappointed, not really sure what I was expecting, I think mainly a more beefy soundtrack if I'm honest... and then I opened it up.

First thoughts, throttle response is improved, deffo not a placebo effect. What I especially noted was that pick-up was better above 70mph (on private roads only of course), far more urge and a lovely more rounded bellow taking a little of the rasp out of the exhaust note.

Then I got it on B-roads and changing up around 4-5k still didn't think I noticed THAT much difference - better throttle response for sure and a more linear feel to accelleration/decelleration .

...and THEN I gave it full throttle, I mean foot to the floor stuff , and then it all made sense. I almost pissed myself laughing The induction note with the 'zorst is just brilliant, really nice throaty bellow from 3k upwards, remarkably civilised below that and cruising at motorway speeds. In fact I reckon it's made it more civilised on the motorway.

All the above was with the soft-top on last night - this morning with the roof off in the sun and it was sounding even better. I drove through town (admittedly giving it some extra pedal travel) and the throatiness is much more evident - more stares for sure

All in all, money very well spent - to anyone that hasn't got one it's deffo worth it

Right, I'm off to waste some more rubber and petrol

..have fun...they do make a difference, and sound great...with exhaust/induction/sports cat you probably get 10-12bhp which is useful. When I had my old ITG fitted and then dynoed the car, I had got another 4bhp, but it smoothed out/lifted the curves in places which was better.

If like the effect an induction kit has, then stick some 270 cams in there next for £500 and get a real extra 15bhp or so

...only problem is that I think I'm turning into a Chav because of it. The best compromise is an early shift into 2nd when in traffic and floor it to get the extra BRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAARRRRRPPP.

Is it the weekend again yet?

Yummy yummy! My Larini 'zorst + Sports Cat + ITG gets fitted on Wednesday, I'm about wetting myself in anticipation. Made me laugh what S Works said about becoming a chav. This also keeps me awake at night - for about 3 seconds then I drift off to dream about flooring down country lanes....

Let me know how that goes BigMac. That's the exact same upgrade that I have planned for my car in April. Any chance of before and after sound clips?

Where you getting it all fitted?

Night, just do it. If you're thinking about it and can afford it bite the bullet.

Haha, that's the attitude that keeps getting me in trouble!

Had the car since Nov and is totally standard. I think the Larini is a cert but I'm still deciding between ITG and Hurricane. My mate has just ordered a hurricane for his S1 so we'll be fitting that soon.

Don't encourage me S, it doesn't take much. I'm having to stay well away from 111R's at the minute!

Getting it done at Brooke Kensington. As well as first MOT and B service. It's going to be an expensive month !

Will try and get some sound clips, at least an after one. To be honest I haven't done a massive amount of getting of my arse and finding out what different combinations sound like. From what I gather they sound the nuts, so just have to go for it. Worst case I'll put the old bits back on and flog the parts - but somehow I don't see that happening!!

I mailed Larini directly to get prices which were slightly cheaper than BK quoted, so they matched it.
£668 spots back box + cat Inc VAT. ITG Does seem a bit overpriced compared to the hurricane. But BK did recomend it, and you know what it's like once youset your heart on something....

I hear we're in for some good weather this weekend as well. ho ho ho.

Does the sports cat make much of a difference?

After months of investigation I've finished on the Larini back-box but I'm not sure how much difference the sports cat makes and I'm nervous about fitting a de-cat pipe.

Hello there, as Night mentioned above I recently purchased the hurricane and Night and I fitted it last night. Took about an hour but that was because I insisted on reading every word of the instructions. Luckily we had no trouble with the "hard to reach" bolt.

To be honest I am a little disapointed in the sound. You can hear the difference at the top end but it is no-where near how I thought it would sound. I can hardly tell it is on at slower speeds (even when accelerating hard). Has anyone else found this to be the case? Maybe I was just expecting too much. Does anyone know if the ITG is much louder than the Hurricane? Night might get an ITG if it is as he shared my opinions on the hurricane.

This was my initial reaction mate - give it more travel on the pedal! Literally, at half throttle you won't notice THAT much. Give it 3/4 to full travel and you WILL notice it!

P.S. do you have a sport exhaust?

Sounds like we're going down similar tracks mate - used to have the Lotus Sport can on mine (Janspeed) but it died, hence the B&C.

Give it plenty and let us know how you get on

Maybe we've put it on backwards Rich. Maybe it's now sucking air and fuel out of the engine and firing it out of the air vent. You should probably get that checked out!

Seriously though, I was a bit surprised it didn't make a bigger difference. The engine note sounds louder and harsher at very high revs but other than that it seems little different.

I'm keen to hear the ITG now to see what difference that one makes for 350 quid.
