the temp on the car got up to an unusually high 102 at the weekend sitting in traffic in a tunnel, dropped to the normal 80 ish after that. Possibly connected, but odd because of its location, there are now about 40-50 little perfectly round blisters in the paint, but they mainly centre around the part of the cover that sits over the bootspace, towards the edge of the panel, so I'm puzzled as to why that would be worse affected. Any ideas if there is anything short of a respray that would cure it of this 'rash' or how interested (!) Lotus would be in putting it right?

It's gonna be a common one - weather's changed from wet & cold to wet & warm.

I was out in a VX220 Turbo on the weekend which had exactly the same thing. Not sure of the cause / cure but it does seem to be a fairly common problem

How new is the car, I had the small micro blisters on my front clamshell (oh er) the front was resprayed under warranty. Something to do with spraying the grp before fully cured..

its 1999, so I'm sure Lotus won't be remotely interested in sorting it out for me! Can't be bothered sorting it out myself either, doesn't detract from driving the thing!

I've got the little bubbly blighters all over my car - 2000 S1. I'm sure the problems getting worse too. Particularly bad on the back & front lids and passenger side door. Can only put it down to the fact that I don't have a garage and the car has been sitting out in wet weather for months on end. Thought about getting a re-spray but it's going to be a really big job, and as you say, doesn't slow the car down.

They are starting to annoy me though....

mine isn't garaged either, and has been covered in snow and ice a fair bit - didn't think a fibreglass car would end up with frostbite though?

Nothing to do with the weather. must be a paint / fibreglass problem

I'd say definitely moisture related. Problem is worst where water tends to sit. I've had a small stream of rain water creeping in though the front edge of the driver side window - paint bubbles follow the line of water on the inside of the door panel.
