Seem to have an issue with the paint finish, around the engine cover and also the sides, around the rear window. Loads of white pin head sizes spots.
Mentioned it on the Sunday a few of us met in Bournemouth and no one had any ideas there as to what it might be, or what might be causing it.

Cant be stone ships, but thats what they look like, any ideas or suggestions.

Alright, how's it going?
I think it's probably where they just missed with the paint.
Or specks of oil or something that dispersed the paint.

Hopefully Westovers will still cover it, as its a Lotus Warranty, rather than a Dealer one

Hi there,

Same thing myself, paint seems to chip very easily as well, I've mentioned this on the feedback form from Lotus and they've responded, and are going to get Stratton's to sort this, I thought this was polish at first, I've had a big problem with stone chip's to

Can you let me know how you get on with Strattons. Mine originally came from them through a Broker. Wondering if its unique to specific colours, mines Magnetic Blue, going by your profile, yours is Red ??.

Have loads of stone chips in all of the obvious places. Thought that was just problematic of the design, but if Lotus say not, then I'll get them to take a look at that too.

Will have to see what Westovers have to say and then get it booked in.

No problem's, I agree that you should expect a few chip's but it shouldn't be as bad as mine I'm sure ?

The front of my car looks like it has been at the bad end of a clay pidgeon shoot. I have spent hours with a touch up pen!

I've done 5000 in mine, the sides below the doors are peppered. I'd not had anything similar in my previous s2. I'd asumed that it was the A048's that were chucking up stones, at this rate the side of my car will be white soon!

My red Exige isn't too bad. Front is a bit "stoned" but then I've covered 9k miles so is to be expected I guess.

I know of one guy on the MLOC site who has a dark blue Exige, and has the same paint problems as BeachBum - paint is bubbling around the rear clam and engine cover.
Lotus are re-spraying the rear clam under warranty for him.

This sounfs odd. My 2002 S2 was Ardent Red and I sold it with 32K. It had stop chips of course, but then it had done 32K! When it was sub 10K it still looked virtually new.

Just been cleaning the car and I have found an area of paint that has not covered properly. It has a kind of bubbly effect, the bubbles are about the size of the bubbles in cola. Small area but this is what a warrentee is for!

I've recently noticed a few spots around the lip under the engine cover that weren't there previously, exactly like cola bubles.

My guess is that it's the heat from the engine and insufficient shielding causing these paint problems???

i've raised this on a few threads, but not much feed back. 111R with lots of chips in normal places, just thought it was par for the course. The white stuff though is a diferent matter. Mine appears to be covered in the little white dots, but they do come off with a good rub with a polish that has a MILD cutting action ie Autoglym. The dash of mine also has the same small spots, so I put it down to the polish that they used in the factory applied with an electric polisher, which i saw them use on a factory tour. If anybody has had good news about the stone chips and warranty I would luv to know.
