With regards to early S1's, is it me or is the tyre/arch gap much smaller than on later S1's on the rear? I have seen a few classified pics and the earlier ones (including mine) do not seem to have much distance between tyre and arch. Fronts have more of a gap, was it a revision on the later S1's to raise the gap for the back?

I may be seeing things of course.

Yes, ride heights did change. Measured from underside of floor to ground early cars were 140mm,just later ones 160mm but I though it was all round, not rear.

LSS & similar setups lower the car to 100-120mm, and typically make the back 10mm higher than the front.

However, misfitted replacement shocks, soggy springs and bent wishbones can also make a car sit lower.

Remember though that ride-height measurement must be done with 70kg of ballast in each seat and 1/2 tank of fuel.

It's also measured at the main chassis rail. Close to the front wheels and where the engine undertray begins (near the door shutline)

Bye, Arno.

On this subject, one upgrade I'm considering later this year (as I think the front shocks may need doing at some point), is the S2 suspension set-up on the S1. I understand this costs about £500 fitted?

Anyway, everything I've read about it praises it in terms of improving ride and handling over the S1 Koni's, but what does it do for ride height. Would like to drop mine a little bit if poss.
