Elise 70% track 30% road

Generally very good. Even a standard S1.
If you intend to do a lot of track days then look at something like a Sport 135 or 160 and put some sticky tyres on it.
I was at Castle Combe a few weekends ago to watch the Porsche Owners Club track day. There were £90K GT3RS's doing 1min 20 sec laps.
2 of the guys I went with have previously had hot laps with one of the Lotus Test Drivers in a bog standard S2 and he put in a 1 min 18.
Obviously driver skill plays a huge part but it shows the Elise is up to it if you are.

As the others have said, it will eat much more expensive machinery and be fantastic bang/buck route to track day joy!
K Series is fine, just let the coolant warm through properly before nailing it and let the car (READ Engine) cool on the slow down lap. K Series I believe is very susceptible to heat shock.
I have heard that a proper S160 can be sketchy getting through sound meters (Goodwood) so beware on that front.

That makes me feel even better about my old clio now i was doing 1m27s that was running the engine to 6000 still running it in and rubbish brakes.
The Kseries will be fine on track but it may be worth getting onto www.eliseparts.co.uk and getting there remote thermostat if you will be doing track work

thanks guys,
Yes am very inetrested in the Sport 135 for the lower ratio box.
I'm specifically interested in how the engine copes with the abuse. As with the same engine in the caterhams, most recommend an Anti Cavitation Kit as a minumim for track dayts etc, but ive never heard of such units being used or dry sumps in the elises
cheers

Dry sumped elises are rare - anti-cav etc. are more important in the caterham due to the longitudinal mounting of the engine. I wouldn't worry about it unless you put really sticky tyres on, which will just have the effect of making the car feel under powered anyway.
An Elise probably stands up better to track use than any other standard road car IMHO - first upgrade should be Pagid pads from Eliseparts.
