Last night I thought I'd spend an hour at the gym to fight the flab - jumped into the 'liz and proceeded to reverse out of the drive straight into a very large silver 4X4 !!
What a tit!! I've only slightly scratched the 4X4 but put a 10 inch crack in my rear clam - really pissed me off for being so careless.
The 4X4 I hit is owned by my neighbours friend who was really good about the whole thing and seemed more concerned about the Lotus.
Not sure if I'm able to post any pictures up, might do later - now a phone call to the insurance co.
I guess the good thing is no one got hurt and the rear end will be as good as new when it's repaired.

I know how gutting that can be. two people have reversed into mine before and knackered the back of it.
Make sure you tell the insurence people where you want it to be repaired, mine tried to tell me to go to some rubbish place but I stood my ground and took it to sinclares and they did a cracking job. Both times they have returned it to me as good as new.

Thanks beechy - I'm insured via Lotus with AON and they have said just to get 1 quote done and I choose where it gets repaired - Fibreglass services are near me and come highly recommended by members on here and SELOC - hopefully will get down there today.
Unlucky fella - those pesky 4x4's are a pain in the arse... quite literally in your case
Now, the good news - Miles is excellent, you'll get an honest appraisal of what needs doing and if he does the work, a first-class job. You'll also probably get a complimentary banter-session on the state of the nation, his current leaning on what's going wrong in the country in general and if you're lucky, some great banter about "the good old days of Lotus"!
Don't be put off by the somewhat ramshackle appearance of the place - what those guys don't know about Loti ain't worth knowing!

S Works, you were right about Fibreglass Services - what a top bloke Miles is and his assistant Ian - they stopped what they were doing and came out to look at the car - wrote me out a full estimate on the spot and still had time for a chat.
Over £900 of damage though - OUCH! Won't need a new clam though.
You are right about the garage - no corporate airs and graces, just a good old fashioned repair garage - and they only charge £100 for an 'A' service!!
Won't be going anywhere else in future.

If you do go tell Miles I recommended him to you! The amount of people I'm doing this for must be worth a cuppa next time I'm there

Where are these Fibreglass Services you speak of?
Just had a 4x4/tow-bar incident and now have a large crack in the front of mine. Insurance co are involved and have recomended somewhere that seems to have something of an idea (3 Elises and 1 VX in there at mo)
Just outside Arundel in West Sussex - www.fibreglassservices.co.uk/index.html for info ask for Miles if you call.
I know this thread is not too good without pictures - but I got my car back from Fibreglass Services last night and this is just to say another big 'thumbs up' for them.
Superb finish to the rear clam - as good as new-
Don't let your Lotus go near another repairer just see Miles and Ian.
Thanks

Tim - how bad was the damage, how good was the repair. Reason for asking is that someone cracked the front clam of mine, nce cracks in the fibre, top and bottom of the air intake to the radiator.
Bugger drove off, without leaving details so its up to me. Dont want to involve the insurance people unless I have to, so if I can find the cash will pay for it ou of my own pocket.
Ball park figure how much was yours ?

Beachbum - damage consisted of a horizontal split about 10 inches long in the rear clam below the rear light cluster and also associated smaller cracks arond the lights.
Cost was £900 + VAT.
Quality of the repair is top notch - on the basis that almost half of the clam was resprayed you have to look very very hard to see to see where the new paint meets the old.

You can see where the new meets the old - thats not right - surely the join should be invisible if they are any good?
