Went for a drive this morning - Battery light came on. Didn't get that far (and not home!!) before the car died. Anybody else had a problem with the battery not charging on an S2, and any advice. Checked the obvious (Fuse, wiring etc) and can only assume the alternator has packed up. Surprised as car only 3 years old and 14K.

Hi, i had the same thing 4 weeks ago (only i couldn't drive at the time and was just turning over the car) battery light on - 99% sure its the alternator. pants pants pants, really sorry for you if it is mate. i had a new alternator put in friday and the guy i deal with was away so i aint paid the bill yet (please please let them forget!). at the time it was about £400 (£50 transporter, 2 hours labour £110 plus the cost of the alteranator itself £200+). let us know how much its going to cost you, it will be interesting to see how prices vary (it was main dealer for me).
Good luck

Ps loved picking it up again and driving it home, still puts a smile on my face 6 months later. Smile factor is worth every penny even when it goes wrong.

Had the car ooked in for its B service today - Charged the battery, took a spare and chanced it. Got there and back o.k and garage confirmed it is the alternator - but couldn't do it today.

But on the plus side its looking like its gonna be covered by the dealers 3 month warranty - One week left!!

When I get the price I'll let you know
