Anyone got a cure for brake clatter? (effecting front left at the moment).

Since fitting EBC discs and green stuff there is a clatter from the front left wheel. My assumption is that it is one of the pads catching on the grooves.

It happens at all speeds and is really annoying on the motorway.

A slight bit of pressure on the brake pedal stops the noise, but obviously I cannot drive around like this.

The brake performance does not seem to be effected.

Any ideas?

Is the spring clip holding the pads properly?

IMHO it will not be the clips.

The pads donot fit in the calipers to allow for expansion. To fill the gap strips are cut from the rubber self adhesive pads to stop them making that clatter.

All mine are EBC with the pads, initailly the guy who fitted the pads did not know about them.

all pads recently renewed with the pads and no clatter at the front or rear.

Find a specialist in your area the job shoul take no more than two hours, could be enen one hour.

Good luck.

Thank you all for your replies.

I checked the retaining clips, and on one side it appears to have slipped downwards. I repositioned it, but it made no difference.

I checked for the anti rattle pads and they have worn away. Spoke with Eliseparts and ordered the pack of pads.

If the weather turns bad this weekend I'll fit the new ones, and hopefully that will be the end of it.

Once again, thank you.

Specailised paintwork in Reading pointed this out to me after solving the problem. I had the rattle for 18 months.
