Hope you don't have to make a claim on it then.. Most insurance companies are wise to the scam of a parent insuring a car for their children. At least you've got some cover though for 3rd party risks - the number of people who don't bother at all is alarming.

yes - they have become wise these days as to who is the main driver...false economy in the long run as you have no NCB yourself......

not really, before this i had a hyundai coupe , £2000 to insure just me or £350 as named driver, so saving £1700 a year, doubt 5 years no claims is gonna make that much of a saving when i am 25 ?

You're bang wrong mate - 5 years NCB at any age will save you.

But, it's getting you in the car you want sooner so I guess that's one plus. Just don't tw@t it and become another statistic who helps to push up the insurance costs for the rest of us!!!

5 years NCB isnt gonna equate to the extra £4000+ i would have to pay if i was insuring it under myself now.. hopefully wont prang it, drive safely, not like some 22 yr old in his corsa!

a 25 yr old with no NCB on an Elise will be looking at £1500-2000...even if you can get insured...with 5yrs NCB that should be about £600 ....and until you are 30 you will be paying a premium.

I take it the car is also registered in your dads name then?

Personally I wouldnt want to risk it if they try and wriggle out of a claim as you are not the main driver/insurer of the vehicle........

Bogie's estimate isn't far off... I'm 28 and have just returned from living in Spain for 3 years, hence 0 NCB. Fully comp on my S2 111S was a smidge over £1400 and that was with a massive introductory NCB :-o Highest quote I had was something like £4500!

Still, it's all worth it... enjoy the car, they are great fun!
