Hi All - I know this ones probably been done before but... I collect my 111R on Saturday with the standard exhaust which I think will be replaced on the first service... As far as I can make out, one of the big negatives about the "R" is the engine note... So...

1. Which one, Stage 1 or 2 - does stage 1 make much of a difference over the standard...

2. If stage 2, can I attend almost any track day without fear of being turned away due to the high db?!

Look forward to some replies... Rob.

There is also a company called "BlueFlame", who make an exhaust system for the Elise, which sits somewhere between the Stage 1 & 2 in terms of noise output.
It also has additional baffles that can be added to reduce the noise output even more.
Unaware of the cost or any warranty issues that may arise, but the people who have them swear by them.

Might be worth considering.

Don't know yet when I will collect my R but please answer the question, as I am interested also.

Reading the posts about exhaust:
1. I believe the Stage 1 is a little bit better than the standard but definitelly not as "fun" as stage 2
2.No you can not go to any place with stage 2...

Ben
So far no stage 1 neither stage 2, not yet R (but I would move to stage 1 on a theorical point of view,...need to listen to one before to decide)

I think I'd probably stick with the official Lotus versions to be honest, fitted at the dealership... It would be good to hear from any users on this forum with a stage1 fitted?

When did you order? I remember you saying that the dealer is making you wait an age...

I ordered a S mid november and car was due mid april. As it was not in production in april I asked if ... and they accept my move to a R. Dealer told me it will be in may.......(under my pressure to have at least a delay)
I wait..........but also read the post and the paint trouble made me feel already bad. AAAAAAAAhhhh Lotus

BTW happy for you 4 days to wait....

When the Exige arrives I will be looking at the Blueflame.

It is supposed to be better made than the Lotus ones and seems to strike the right balance in noise. Plus as has been said it comes supplied with baffles which can be inserted into the pipes to quieten it down for track days.

Also the pipes on the Stage 2 are flush with the rear diffuser so you cant see them. The Blueflame ones though make more of a deal about the pipes which I thing looks great.

The stage 2 rocks!
Done 1700 miles with it on including 500 this weekend (including a track day)
It looks good and the only track days that are an issue are the 98db limits like Goodwood etc.

Another vote for the stage 2. I much prefer the
way it exits flush with the diffuser. The original
just looked like a couple of straws stuck out the
back, and the blue flame looks a bit chav to me.

Yeah, think it will be stage 2 - anybody know the price + fitting? Also, Snetterton is my local track - would be good to know whether they have any noise restrictions?

I'm getting a stage 1 fitted tomorrow - along with my 1000 mile service (whooo-hoo!)

Just wanted a little more 'aural ambience' without going to a stage 2 - I have to drive the thing every day.
The Blueflame seems to have a lot going for it, but the looks aren’t to my taste.

shot2bits -
why go around shooting 2bits????

It's nothing personal to 2bits - his name just fits well with being shot... Collect the car on Saturday, if it's raining I'm going to sit in the showroom until the sun shines...

I couldn't decide about the blueflame looks, but if you read the thread, you can customise the pipes to anything you want. Would be interested to hear a stage 1, as stage 2 would be too loud for my daily commute.

Is the stage 1 lighter that the standard (on exige/111r)?

Looking at previous responses, there seems to be a lack of an opinion on the sports exhausts produced for the 111R by Quicksilver. Does anyone possess one - they seem to do the biz, I'd appreciate some feedback on the Supersport range - certainly they sound ok from the video on Quicksilvers web site.....
