Just phone to dealer in Belgium and he told me that for the ELISE, THE R WAS THE ONLY AVAILABLE MODEL.
I was surprised and he told me that" The news was fresh from this week.........."
Knowing him, I do NOT believe it is intox.
So is this a scoop??

Well rover went through the tubes so no more k series engines so it had to happen.

Only question is now what the new basic engine is going to be?

I was told by my dealer that the 111S will be around for a while, however, it is of course inevitable that the 111S will stop in the future. Caterham are to be using less K-series as they've now gone for Duratec, and Lotus now will begin to favour the Toyota engine. Nothing wrong with that at all, and I don't think it will do anything to my residuals (S2 111S), but jsut the way it's very likely to go.

I had my 111r in for it's A service yesterday (now £320 lighter) and the dealer was saying to me that Lotus were having problems getting hold of Rover engines.

Hopefully they'll be able to swap over to another manufacturer without too many problems, although I thought SAIC only purchased the intellectual property relating to the K series, rather than getting the company and physical production line.

Presumably, Lotus would go for a lower output non-vvtli or otherwise detuned version of the 2zzge. Or make the 111r the base model and bring out higher-powered models

It's likely they have enough supply to cover a while yet as it's apparently only a small percentage of overall production (bearing in mind Yota-only US market etc). This should tide them over until Powertrain's future is determined, then they can make decision for lower-output engine then. Seems daft to exclude customers with lower budgets as there are more of them and once you get to year-old Boxster money, you're only gonna win over the out-and-out drivers market.

IMHO it was probably down to a Volume contract signed between Lotus and the Rover Group.

No Rover No Contract, no need to use the K anymore
