While I was checking my car I had a look at an Exige with the front clam removed. On either side the main cooling duct there are 2 quite large oil cooling rads.
How much difference does this really make to performance?

With the plumbing from the engone to these rads, the oil capacity has to be VAST!

The elise has an oil cooler, in is about the size of a tuna can and is a heat exchanger and utilises the cooling system.

Unless you're doing serious track work there's no point in upgrading. Oil coolers simply keep the temp of your oil lower and therefore inside it's operating temperature, if it gets very hot IRO, 150 degrees then it gets very thin or can even break down which would stop it doing it's job and could cause big and expensive problem.

Sounds like the Exige has Air to oil coolers which work like you rad does but for the oil. The other type, which you have, is the air to water cooler which uses the water in the cooling system to keep the temp down, the bonus of these is that they also act as an oil warmer when the engine is cold as the water gets to temp quicker than the oil so your oil gets to working temperature quicker which is good.

To answer your question, no performance advantage at all apart from keeping your oil at a happy temperature if you're a serious track day nutter.
