Just bought an S1 111S, fantastic!

Can anyone recommend driver training courses in the South of England, ie Surrey/West Sussex area?

www.carlimits.com

A lot of the guys and gals on SELOC go, I'm off for my second day in September. Get on a 4 person day, very good VFM and you learn a LOT.

Carlimits is probably the most recommended. Plans Motorsport nr Guildford will do you a 1-on-1 session for about 2 hours I think for £199 on the track near them. Same one as Top Gear uses.

Another vote for Carlimits but it is always booked up way in advance.

Other than that I lnow a few people who have done the scare yourself sensible day at Hethel which is good and they supply the cars. Bit more expensive though.

Not used them personally but have heard good reports about ridedrive.

Bunch of ex-police drivers dotted around the country who know a thing or two about car control. They sell a lot to TVR owners but also cover Lotus etc.

Yes, heard lots of good things about them too. I think they are mostly road oriented but can organise sessions on track also if requested.

The other alternative is to go on a trackday with LOT
'Lotus on Track' or one of the trackday companies Easytrack or Bookatrack and get some training on the day with Walshy or one of the other instructors.

Obviously you will have to book one with a beginners session but that isn't usually a problem.

Obviously it depends on how you feel about taking your car on track but it is great fun and the Lotus guys are very well behaved LOT are quite strict about behaviour and as we are all in the same boat everyone pretty much behaves themselves.

I can personally vouch for a Walshy day as I have done a couple myself.

Good call Gill - I was at the Brands night last night and it was very well organised and no-one was driving like idiots (but people were pushing hard in the expert session - my laps with Nick in his Supercharged Honda Exige S1 were + ).
