Hi Folks,

I'm on the look out for a Type 23 (English White/British racing green stripes). I did seen one for sale before but I stupidly missed my chance.

If anyone knows where there is one for sale could you please let me know.

Regard,

Mac

I know of one for sale.... but it's in New Zealand

www.lotuscars.net.nz/used.php

Probably a bit pricey too... Elises are uber-expensive here due to their rarity.

Storm in Leicester had one a while back. I took a look myself, but a little more than I wanted to pay...

Type 23 is my favourite Elise.

Thanks for the replies guys. This is my first Elise and I wasn't sure which one I wanted at first, but from the first time I saw one on the road it looked really dramatic!

I STUPIDLY missed a Type 23 at Paul Mattys for £17,995 I must need my head testing...AAARRRRGGGHHHHH!

Anyway, I'll keep looking. £22,750 is little more than I wanted to pay (although probably worth it).

I'm not sure I can hold out till I find one as the summer is ticking by...I guess I've waited this long.

Thank gents...Hopefully I'll find one soon.

Anyone else know of any?

Regards,

Mac

SWORKS Has a good point, don't take the Price as set in stone, If there is one thing I found out is that dealers will move on the price. Depending on how hard you push and how serious you are about buying it. It is a buyers market at the moment and there are loads of bargains to be got.

Anyway SWORKS how is the Sport160 doing? My friend bought one at Christmas, and it's bloody quick. I won’t get into the whole VXT VS Elise argument, but what I will say is having got a mate with a VXT and a mate with the 160 (and me being lucky enough to drive both of them) The 160 is awesome! Don’t know if I could do a 50 mile round trip to work each day though

/Thread drift (sorry Mac).

Utterly brilliant mate (touch wood). Every time I drive it I'm learning more about its character, how far I can push it, how well it responds to different roads, inputs etc.

In the wet it is remarkably grippy (seems the Toyo's work well) and in the dry it is just phenominal. I drove back home from a pub meet on Monday night at about 10pm, light fading, roof off, good twisty fast Kentish B-Road blast (Edenbridge to T.Wells for anyone local), and really went for it as I know the roads and could see if anything was coming. Using the whole road and really getting stuck in on all the bends the cornering entry and exit speeds that I can do in this car vs. the old one are far, far quicker. That is in part a fact that I feel more confident with this cars set-up, but also because the brakes, engine, geo, suspension set-up is just way, way more aggressive.

You do have to screw it a bit to keep it on cam, but not THAT much more than a standard car. It's a bit more work around town, but not so's it really upsets me. It sounds, smells and drives like a proper racing car, is more raw than the '79 but again, no SO raw that it p!sses you off.

On the road it's just awesome. So long as you're ready on the cam when you need to overtake quickly the pickup is almost instantaneous, and it pulls hard and cleanly right round to 7k+.

60-70 in second, 80+ in third, large numbers in 4th and in 5th I just back off. The pops and bangs on the overrun are hilarious, the note of the exhaust goes from loud and mechanical to snarling, roaring gutteral howl as the revs scream round to the limiter. It's aggressive with a capital A. Everything a Lotus should be IMvHO.

I'm considering getting the cam's timed with verniers to reduce the lumpiness a little, but not before I've been in one which has been done. I like the fact that it's a bit of a screamer though so I really am in 2 minds about changing it. Time will tell.

Basically, it f'ckin rocks dude!

Glad your pleased with it mate, I know from driving my friends what a balistic missile it can be. Makes my S2 feel slow.

I'm in two minds save like made and chop mine in come Xmas, and get 111R or Exige. Or spend the cash on my S2 making it the car it always should of been.

No doubt the woman will have something to say about both options, I'll just buy her a new dishwasher that should keep her sweet
