I know this will eb a stupid question, having had another look through my manual (S1) there seems to be storage behind the seats for the roof struts that go from door to door (bendy ones).
up until now i have been putting them in the boot which is abit of a squeeze & onec tried behind teh seats which seemed to rattle loads and drive me mad.
On the picture diagram there seems to be a hole for them to slot into which i cannot find?
Is it there and i am being blind or where else do you store yours?

They will fit behind the seats but the correct storage area is actually in the boot on the small lip in front of the engine compartment. You'll not two small velcro'd straps. They fit (with a shedload of wiggling around) with the curvature arcing away from you towards the front of the car as you look in from the rear.
I generally can't be @rsed and just chuck 'em in the boot with the cant rails.

Depends how old the car is.
If you have a boot with and extra plastic lid and bag style sides, they fit behind the seats only. The gap on top of the boot wall was introduced with the solid boot in '98 some time. Mine is an S and has the new boot and the velcro fastening strips, Shnozz has an R and it's got the old bag style boot and holes drilled behind the seats.

Mine just about fit here - above the speaker - although it is very tight and they need a bit of wiggling!!

Looks like mine mate... bottom one goes in fine (with a squeeze) but the top one's a right barsturd to get in.... it WILL go in if you've got half an hour to curse at it as you wrestle with it, but I usually click the bottom one in both holes and the top one goes in one side only (wedges in okay the other side but not positively located)
Anyone got any tips for this?

Ditto on mine. One side in the other just wedged in. No problems like this in over 50,000 miles so can't be doing any harm can it.
Yup... mine's like that... CAN get the top one in, but it's tricky... I had some practice tonight and managed to get it working a little better..... it's not a Cat C, still basically in showroom condition

Now that I have seen all of the comments about 1 in and 1 out it seems more likely to be as a result of Lotus engineering precision!
