Did you see the clarkson bit in the Sunday Times on GT4 at the weekend? He reckons it is accurate as it possibly can be in terms of handling etc. Suggests you get it before spending good money at the RING, and practice.
I've parped on about this for a while now. The 'ring is pretty much dead on in the game, we used it to learn the track before we went earlier this year.
Haven't got GT4 yet as i did play GT3 not to long ago.
But to drive it like a real car without tractioncontrol and doing proper drifts i tried the following.
For GT3 try this with a lotus, TVR, RX7 or any other rear wheel that's known for drifting.
1 set the game to simulation and tractioncontrol to off in the menu.
2 You still have to go to the settingmenu once you have the car to set the tractioncontrol and the stabiltycontrol to 0.
3 buy simulationtyres for the car and fit them.
Now enjoy the turns and try having controlled drifts and lots of fun.
Posted the following on an other forum some time ago and copied this here.
Maybe someone knows the answer to my question who has GT4.
I tried driving different cars with simulation tyres, traction control and stability control to off.
I realised how realistic that game then becomes and i really like the challenge driving that way.
But i have a frustration when it comes to racing other cars driving that way.
Since you have to brake early and be gently on the throttle in the bends i can't win any races anymore unless i have a really powefull car and even then it has to be a circuit with many straights!
I really love to race that way but having the disadvantage of taking it the real simulation way mixed with other cars driving the arcade way it isn't a fair race.
When i choose to drive with simulation tyres the opposition should drive that way to!
Is this problem solved in GT4?
As i really want to win races driving that way and won't have it any other way.

I've just bought a PS2 slim and GT4 for only one reason and that is to set me up for a trip to the the 'ring.
The game - wow - I've only driven it about 5 times and I still haven't a clue where I am!
The trip - just can't wait - anybody planning a trip next March/April and want a few extras? If so let me know.

Not Gran Turismo but i saw the lotus GT1 featured in the old Need for Speed 2 game for the playstation 1.
It had to be unlocked in the game i believe but when i looked at the car spec's etc.. it seemed it was one of the fastest cars in the game for bends and 0-60 but weird it was one of the slowest for 0-100!?!
The game has also some nice pics and video of the car.
