I think the problem is that no-one knows what "Slime" is. I'm guessing it's something that you piut in the tyre and it coats the inside?

If that's the case, I don't think anyone bothers with stuff like that - if you get a flat, you get a flat.

yeah sorry, slime is a green liquid with chunks of rubber in it that seals the hole from the inside and stops the tyre going flat. obviously you'll still need to get a new tyre when you notice the nail sticking out of it but it's good for 150mph and doesn't cost much.

so when you get a flat - what do you do? call the AA?

Use foam/slime - whatever you want to call it

Limp home - slowly

Replace tyre

No need to call the AA unless the tyre has a serious hole / tear in it

One problem with the slime is noticing a nail. The wheel on a car is enclosed within the arch and not as visible as on a bike so you could have the nail in for a while in what is a damaged tire.

Not sure how confident I'd be in slime preventing destruction.

What is available is the tyre weld inflation aerosol stuff. At least with this you know you have had the flat and it will get you to a tyre change at safe limits.

The Elise actually has a can of tyre weld/foam/slime located in the inside of the bootliner instead of a spare wheel, so no need to call the AA etc.

OK, thought it was some kind of protection.

As said you get a can of foam in the fronty wih the locking wheelnut tool. I wouldn't use it unless you have to though as most tyre places won't remove it, they'll only fit a new tyre.

Ninja,

I would steer clear of slime with the Liz.

It tends to upset the wheel balance as it sloshes about inside.

Fine on a mountain bike but not a good thing in such a lightweight, balanced car as the Liz.

The can of tyre weld in the front should get you through most "slow" punctures, no good for "blow outs" but then neither is slime.

Just one of those things I'm afraid matey.

So is this stuff a liquid that you put in the tyre and it stays there or something that you add when you get a flat?

Put it in there - before you get a puncture, in all wheels.

Horrible stuff!

I've used it on MTBs.

Clogs valves and makes a right mess!
