Am wanting to get a TVR but asking the boys there they have reaaly put the wind up me with the running costs. What i was wondering was how much would it cost to run a elise ?

1) servicing, how often, how much ( roughy )
2) how much do you boys put to one side for things thaty might go wrong a year
3) tyres, roughly how much for new backs boots
4) I am 6ft 4in, and have driven my mates vx220 turbo and done a track day in an s2 elise, but getting in and out was quite funny with the roof down, I was thinking of putting a snap on wheel on to make it easier. Are there any tall drivers here, what have you done to make it easier. I also thought about the hard top roof with the two sections tht hinge up to make it easier to get in.

Any advise welcomed

Rear Tyres about £250 per pair inc VAT, can be a bit tricky to source the right dot code (compound)

Servicing, depends main dealer 'A' service circa £250 v specialist at just over a £100. Service intervals every 9k or annual but better to change oil more regularly IMHO. Service intervals go A, A, B, A, A, C etc B service add about a 100 to the A and a 'C' service is the big one, cam belt change and circa £550 plus from main dealer but £350 ish from specialist. If you're going to track it regularly these rules go out of the window really as things wear out a lot quicker and oil needs to be changed a lot more frequently.

How much to put aside? personally I don't bother I guess I'll just take the hit and raid the savings account, mines still under manufacturers warranty though until October. You can take out AA insurance for about a £100 a year which I think pays out up to £1000 for repairs, sounds pretty good to me.

As for size cant really say I fit easy enough but I'm only 6'

Hope that helps

I'm the same height as you. Own a 111R and with the roof off no issues what so ever with getting in and out.
Roof on is another matter all together. First few weeks, really began to wonder whether I could live with the car or not. However once you have done it a few times, you get your own way of doing things. Now its no problem at all, you just get a knack for doing it. Everyones way is different, but they all work.

The Service answers have already been provided, but I beleive that the Cam Belt change has now been dropped from the original 5yrs to 4 yrs.
