I test drove a 111R this afternoon... absolutely amazing car. Loved it to bits, particularly the shove in the back as the second cam took over.

I didn't go for a new car in the end, even though they had a couple of new cars in stock none had air con, which I really wanted. Fortunately enough they had a 9 month old, 111R with touring pack + air con in the colour I wanted and it had a hard top plus stage one sports exhaust. All for the princely sum of £26.5K.

Only problem is that I'm off all next week and it won't be ready until Thursday at the earliest :-( It'll be like Christmas Eve when I was five waiting for Father Christmas to bring me a Scalextric.

Congrats -
Prepare for the longest week of your life! I would harass them 3 times a day.

Me on the phone to westover= Is it here yet? Is it ready yet? When will it be ready? Can I borrow the demo car for a little bit?

Andrewm= Sir, you only put down the deposit yesterday!

It worked, instead of a 12 week wait, it was 3.5

they tell me that a new car is about a 5 week wait.

I've the the boring job of haggling for a Ford Focus as a second car today. I just can't get excited about it.

does stage 1,2 or 10 make a difference to performance or is it simply a chagne in the 'zorst sound?

Both will smooth out the revs and wil give some more power.

Stage 2 is supposed to give anywhere between 5-8 BHP IIRC.

You need one fo the sound though. The standard exhaust sounds liek a hairdryer

I have stage 2 and think it sounds amazing. People look round to see whats coming and your still 1/4 mile away! Agree with Davy - a must have.

Hi Phil and Philip, the standard exhaust silencer fitted to the 111R and Exige is a bespoke 24 litre volume unit made specially for us by CLF (aka Magnex). It is not a Toyota unit or even modified from a Toyota unit contrary to popular belief. This unit meets the European drive by noise standards of 74dBa and weighs in at 14kg.
The stage one silencer (part number LOTAC05334) is based on the standard unit but with a reduced volume of 20 litres and a consequent mass reduction to 11.5 kg. This unit offers a more pleasing sound quality while still meeting the vast majority of trackday organisers noise limits at 96.9dBa when measured to blue book regulations. It offers no significant power benefits as the standard system is already very efficient in terms of back pressure and therefore there is little to come from further reductions.
The stage two silencer (part number LOTAC05335) is a completely different design aimed at those who want a much louder exhaust note. The blue book test gives a figure of 104 dBa which will meet some but not all track day noise limits. This system weighs in at just 8 kg and has a volume of just 7 litres. The power benefit is once again very small, in the region of 2ps, although the enhanced engine note makes the car feel mucjh faster! This system was designed to achieve maximum power improvement, so it is very hard for us to believe that anyone else will be getting much more power from the exhaust alone, although I'm sure they will claim they can!
Best regards, Nick

So from the factory horses mouth - power gains from the Stage 1 or stage 2 is "very small"
