Well, she's gone...... On my way to C Neils on monday to get a service I passed a gunmetal/red rag top in a ditch near to Knutsford and my heart went out to the owner. 5 miles up the road and things took a turn for the worse. Remember nothing, but woke up in A+E several hours later. Liz wasn't so lucky. According to the witness statements I lost it on a tight 1st gear corner and ended up across the other side of the road and then was hit amidships by a 4x4. Luckily lady wife was following in her car, and 4x4 hit pax side otherwise things would have been a lot worse. Liz is still impounded by PLOD and I await the inevitable 'interview without coffee'at PLODS place. Bruised ribs and whiplash will heal, but I am not so sure about Liz. Insured, but that is not the point, waited soooooo long for her.
I remember nothing and the road layout does not help me put it together either. Tight junction off the A556 onto A559, could only have been in 1st, could only have been diesel, but just dont know. Oh well I live to see another day, but with a heavy heart.

That's sad. At least you're ok. I'm sure you'll have the opportunity to get another in the future sometime when you're ready.

Glad to hear you are ok, don't let these things put you off. I had a diesel incident many years ago, (using cheap tyres & very low speed), lesson well and truly learnt.

This should be a lesson to all Elise owners with diesel engined second cars

Commiserations, I'm glad you are not hurt.
I don't wish to be rude but a day with Andy Walsh www.1stlotus.com/ might be in order if you didn't already do one. I did a Walsy day and I am still shit but at least I know how bad I am.

Sorry to hear it Nige..

I hope everything turns out OK, you'll have to tell me where it happened though, as I drive that road every day so I'll keep a look out for that blackspot.

The A556 - A559 - A556 is pretty straight?

Click for map

If you mean the big strange roundabout thing just outside Northwich then I know it..?

yeah, thats the baby. I was going to Northwich from Knutsford, and I had to stop for traffic on the main drag, so it could only have been 1st gear! Thanks for all your good wishes. The aches and pains are going, but the memories just won't come. Its still unexplained to me, although PLOD has an open and shut case as far as he can see. Just waiting for the engineers report to check for any mechanical failure, and then wait for the C Neils estimate to see if she still lives on or not. Cannot contemplate any cars at the moment, just need to get this chapter sorted.

Once again thanks, will post pics when I can get at her to take some, but will need help hosting 'em.

Sorry to hear you were injured mate, thankfully the car bore the brunt and not you.

I know how you feel on the loss front, but a good assessor will be able to get you a decent price on the insurance if it is a total write-off. If you need advice or help, Steve Greensmith (aka anniesdad on Pistonheads) was very helpful for me when I had an accident in May.

Get well soon!

still waiting for PLOD to release the car, mind you still waiting for details on the 3rd party. This data protection act and shift work really dont help matters. It looks as though the claim form will have to be incomplete. They rekon the PC wont be on duty untill thursday, and no body else can give me any information................so bloody beaurocratic, any body would think the accident took place in Brussels, not Northwich.

Yeah, I keep thinking I was luck to have not taken up C Neils offer of a curtosy car, otherwise the nearest and dearest would have been in the passenger seat................totally unthikable......

Thanks for all your kind words

finally got to see her today.............I think its best I say my goodbyes now. The l/h section of the tub is deformed, drivers side door is dificult to open, although no apparent damage, dash twisted, roll over hoop pushed over towards the drivers side, does not look good.
I now know why my good lady considers herself lucky, does not bear thinking about!!!!!!!

I have some pics I can post, if some one can help me out with the hosting thing, please.....

Sorry to hear that.

My wife says she hates driving in convoy with me as she is in fear of rounding a corner and seeing me in a ditch.

Anyway, so long as nobody was (seriously) hurt then that is the main thing. Everything else is just money at the end of day. Yes, emotions are involved, but cars car be replaced. People can't.

Sorry to hear your car will likely be written off but at least you're ok.

If you open an account with Photobucker (free and easy) you can put them there.

Then just add a reply to this thread with this format:
