HELP !!

I have an S1 (year 2000) with 40k on the clock just resently the rattles have got worse. Seems to be loads of rattling at the front end over minor bumps and now rattling at the back and a king of clunking noise over small bumps which seems to appear after an hour or so of driving when the car is warmed up. I haven't taken the wheels off and had a look yeat but wondered if this is the symptoms of worn/knackered shockers.

Thanks
in advance

looks like i'm gunna get some new shockers then. Is it worth replacing new springs too ?? I have managed to get a quote from proven products for £81 inc VAT each for the adjustable damping and spring height AVO's no springs included though, presume you can use the old ones. Any thoughts ?

my springs were good, I just swapped them onto the new dampers. I feel the AVOs are better than the stock Konis (quieter too) but can't compare them to S2 set-up as I've not tried it. Certainly the AVOs are not bad and at £350ish are not too bad value.

The recommended upgrads is the S2 suspension kit, available from either Lotus or a guy called Steve Butts on Seloc or BCBBS. If you're gonna be doing lots of track work, Nitrons are the way to go...

cheers for the info. Has anyone fitted any of those GAZ ones, some been on ebay for around £300. I know everyone seems to think Nitros are the best, anyone who has got them do thay actually make a better/quieter ride around town and for general road use as that is what I mainly use it for. Oh and has anyone tried the SPAX ones realtively new i think.

i'd avoid GAZ myself. the seals are pretty poor. not sure about Spax. S2 would be good but you're looking at about £650 fitted I guess
