Installing a Pioneer TS-WX105A
Discussion
Have gone and bought a Pioneer amplified sub to beef up the bass in the Elise, intend mounting it behind the seats on the parcel shelf, anybody else done this? Grateful for any tips on fitting and securing the unit in place. Also where did you splice into for power and speaker pick-up?
Cheers

Yes, I've fitted one. It fits lovely just behind the pax seat.
It comes with little saddle brackets and a pair of straps to hold it in place. You'll probably need to remove the rear bulkhead cover (which means taking out the pax seat). I fixed the saddles onto the rear vertical panel using screw/nuts with large washers to make it nice and strong and then when I strapped the sub in, I wedged a thin piece of foam under it to stop any rattles and keep it nice and tight. Oh, and wedge some loft insulation around the bulkhead before refitting the cover - damps down rattles and boominess no end.
If you face the speaker end of the sub towards the drivers seat, the cable will exit behind the pax seat and be invisible - you can then run the cable down past the fuel tank into the centre rail, past the gear lever and all the way to your head unit.
There's power, straight from the battery, available via an M8/M10 binding post in the dash behind the head unit which you can run in a similar way.
Err, what else... it sounds excellent when fitted... I now need to sort out a bass block filter for the rear speakers as they are still trying to reproduce the low frequencies and can be a bit buzzy. I should note that it'll probably take a good half day to fit.
Oh, and a couple of tweeters up front makes a big difference, too, for small money.

Jig, thanks for that, seems you and I are thinking alike, I was going to mount it on the "step" but not enough clearance for the saddle clamps and webbing straps. Was coming to the comclusion of mounting on the back panel. Have seriously upgraded the system in mine already, have a Pioneer DEH-P77MP head unit fitted with 2 Pioneer Emotion 13cm & 2 17cm co-ax speakers plus tweeters, but the car lacked a good bass sound, looks like this will do the trick.
Thanks

Just test rigged my unit up, bass sounds much better, I now need to sort the by-pass out and balance it all up but way better already. Getting a tidy cable hook-up solution is a bit tricky but worth doing the job right. That means both seats out, bulkhead panel out, some sound lagging in and keeping everything nice and tidy. Worth the effort.
