Hi all

I was set to buy a black Elise, but after seeing on in the proverbial flesh i have to say i was not impressed at all - it seemed to, dare i say, look cheap!

Are there Elise shows where I can go and see real cars?

The 2006 models have a "new" black which is thought to be like 240 black

It sounds interesting, but i only have a £14 - £15k budget - the car i saw was a high milage (38k) 52 plate

Do look at different black cars. My car's starlight black and has a really great finish - whereas I've seen some that have not been as well cared for and (because of the colour) they look very bad.

Your local Lotus dealer is the best place to go...they'll have many different body/trim combinations for you to peruse over!

The new colour is phantom black. I hope its a solid black with a really deep shine, a bit more 240. I cant wait to see it, if i go for a 111r i will deffinatly consider it.

Marki, I suspect you were looking at the flat black colour which can look dull if not looked after. In your price bracket is the S1 Sport 160 which comes in Starlight Black Metallic, this is a silver speckle which looks utterly fantastic when cared for and well polished. There are several examples for sale in the classifieds.

I'm speaking from experience, having had an S1 Type 79 in flat black and currently having an S160 in Starlight.

Hi - my profile has a picture of my laser blue S2 111s with the hard top in place. One of the few times I had the hard top on.

I didn't think Laser Blue was available for the S1 (apart from the Exige)?

If it's an S1 you're after then check the Azure Blue, Norfolk Mustard or Nautilus Blue (all metallic). If it's an S2, which you may just be able to get for that cash, then I think Ice Blue or that Aqua thing are top.

Aqua was dropped about 2003early 2004. Shame as it looks good on car but few seem to have bought it.

Nice car - Ruby red looks like a great colour, can you post more photos?

I havent seen one before and i really do like it - do you know if it was avaialble when the S2 first came out as i am looking for an early model?
