Buying a used Exige S2, what to look out for?
Discussion
Just check it has been serviced properly.
I would also check the details with Lotus and ask them to confirm that the warranty hasnt been invalidated for any reason.
Also try and get one with new(ish) tyres. They dont last particularly long and will be about £700 if you need to replace them all.

If I were buying one all over again I'd ditch the utterly useless touring pack and get the eprformance pack plus air.
The TP gives nothing but nasty nylon carpet trim, vestigial sun visors that never need to be used, a 12 cm piece of netting and much crappier seats than the PP.The seats in the PP are fantastic looking things. You'll end up rertro fitting harnesses and bar to the TP at great expense if you get into track days, which is already on the PP cars.
Trouble is PP cars are rarer on the secondhand market, but can be found.

interesting ....
I was originally looking for a car with Touring pack but loved the seats + harnesses of the car I bought which had the Performance Pack.
I would say you should be able to pick up a car for around £25k privately - I paid £25750 for mine 2 months ago but it only had 3k miles on the clock.
Happy hunting!

You forgot the stereo upgrade - to one that is a pig to use and doesn't work properly anyway!
Seriously though, I went for the touring pack, and would have to agree it was a complete waste of money. Aircon definitely a must though.

i here the cam change over on the 240R is around 4000 (as opposed to 6200) making for a much smoother transition (i.e you wouldnt notice a lull) .... a mate got a shot of one at knockhill a couple of weekends back. When a new exige is released its going to be one hell of a beast.

IIRC there was mention of a remap coming out for the Toyota lump, which caused the cutover to be come in lower, rumour was 4500 revs.
Anyone know if this is still on the cards. If it isnt would it be something that the OEM providers might distribute ??
I don't think it would make sense. A remap so the changeover occurred earlier on the normally aspirated engine would actually give worse performance as it would occur at too low revs for the more extreme second cam, when it would actually produce less power than the milder first cam.
The changeover point is (presumably) chosen to be the point at which the second cam produces more power than the first cam. The reason that crossover point is earlier on the 240R is because of the forced aspiration.

Yes. The 240R can have a lower change point (4000 rpm) as it has more torque than the standard car.
