It was on the Pistonheads classifieds. High mileage (19k) but looked tip top when I viewed it on Saturday. Used for daily motorway commute, but well looked after and just serviced. Graphite Grey, Touring Pack, no mods.

It's this one;
www.pistonheads.com/sales/51776.htm

Probably one of the highest milers out there, but in great condition, will need some new boots in the not too distant, and the owner fancied a quick sale (new Boxster S on the way) so picked it up for a smidge over £24k.

Only reservation is the standard exhaust, any tips on an upgrade appreciated.

Do'h now you've done it. You've asked the question with no real answer. What Exhaust.

There is only one answer, which ever one you like the sound of the most.
They all sound different and you need to hear them before making an educated decision. There are a number of options available
Lotus Stage 1
Lotus Stage 2
Quicksilver
Janspeed
Larini.
If you have loads of money to burn try Blueflame, they build bespoke exhausts

Congrats and welcome to the fold - you will love it.
Stage 2 a must IMHO. Post pics as soon as you have them.

Stage 1 if you're gonna use it as a daily driver and you want to be able to get on to any track day..

Congrats, nice car!

Is there much difference in noise between 1 & 2? I have standard on mine, and don't like the look of the downturned stage 2 pipes. Am I right in thinking the stage 1 exits the same as the standard (ie straight out the back)?
Apologies for off the beaten track Trimbo- very nice motor- I bet Friday seems a long way away!! At least you'll have two Xmas days this year. You will love it- I've been owner for 3 months and still laugh at loud when driving it sometimes. Prepare to get stared at.

Good Man !!

I have the stage 1 which is quite acceptable for road and track use.. if you want some noise that will still get you into track days, then I recommend an induction system (PiperX or ITG) on second cam it sounds amazing

Just had a stage 2 out on mine. pipes are no longer downturned on the Exige. They are just past the diffuser and look good!

Congrats Trimbo, I'm sure you'll love it. I'm just a couple of months into running an S2 Exige and I'm still absolutely loving it - I use it pretty much every day and it's not causing me any problems whatsoever.

Hey that's exactly what we've got (hope you don't live near us or we'll have to change), anyway it's a cracking colour (maybe a bit biased on that count).
On the exhaust thing, ours is fitted with Lotus Stage 1 from new & the car is used every day to go to work, it sounds great at high rpm & easy to live with. Tried a car with Stage 2 which makes a great noise all the time but reverbs around cabin at certain rpm I reckon u'd be deaf pretty quickly & as already mentioned by others if u r going to track the car it might be dodgy on some circuits for decibel levels.
Anyway you will enjoy it, it brings a smile to both myself & my girlfriends face every time we sit in it never mind drive it!
