Guys

I am considering putting in an order for a red 111R. Went to JCT in Leeds and fell in love. It was my intnetion to buy a 2nd hand Elsie as a 2nd car, but the 111R was simply awsome! We looked at the figures and by the time i specked it up it was looking at being about 30k. If i do for for the 111R it will have to be my only car - the deal is over 4 years, and by that time it will have covered 60 - 80k. The balloon payment will be £13,500, is there any chance the car will be worth less than that?

Thanks
Mark

I'd say it would be close if you put 80k miles on it.

better to save up the cash and avoid finance surly. that way once you sell that car at 80,000 miles you will have 12k for the next car.

It would be nice to be in the position not to need finance, but it would take me months to save up!

use bank or building society finance motor finance from a dealer is always more expensive, you could always buy a nearly new one you'l save a lot that way aswell

What are you speccing? Touring packs are often free at the mo, plus sports exhausts/induction if you go to the right place. Hard tops are nice but not essential, especially since the touring pack has an insulated soft-top.

£28K plus maybe £500 for metallic paint. You can even get cheaper alternatives to Armourfend. Or even go for a year-old car.

Don't worry about it being your only car, as long as you're not regularly hauling stuff around or have more than one passenger.

Most of all, though - go for it, you only live once, how many people can say they owned a Lotus?

They are amazin machines, you know you want to.....
But your figures do look a little steep. I was offered an unreg 111R with touring pack (met paint) for 27k not 2 weeks ago. These people want to do deals, its just that my needs were specific (t/pack, A/con, H/top) so had to go the used route. They are right, you wont regret it, I still laugh out loud (when in the car alone mind!)

Buying new for 30k? You're insane. You'll lose at least 5 or 6 grand in the first year or so of ownership for sure, especially if the next Elise variant comes in that time.

Used 111R's are now coming up regularly in private sales for 25k or less. Let someone else take the hit and save yourself a packet.

Your local dealer is frankly out of touch with current supply and demand (or have got their fingers firmly crossed behind their back!)

Check out the deals and realise the true current market value and then by all means go back to them and give them the opportunity to match reality.

Well said, I was offered a Cracking deal on a 55 Exige by Stratton's that other day, I think I'd always try Guy first and then go back to him if I was offered another deal else ware
