I was driving at pace along an A-Road and the terrain suddenly became very bumpy, the right rear suspension bottomed out and made a rather large clunk. Is this normal?

Had my 111R airborne, landed without any fuss.
Was in wales a few weeks ago, took to the hills for a blast as you do, found a wonderful stretch of straight road with no other traffic and no other adjoining roads either! Foot down, we hit a series of rollers, the last was just too sharp, landed with a jolt, enough to cause my right foot to come off the loud peddle. The car went left slightly as it settled and my foot hit the throttle again.
Was more of a surprise than anything else.Car was fine....Been religious ever since !

Do you mean suspension stops or under tray ?

Are you sure it really bottomed out and didn't just go through a pot hole? That can sound like a wheel has come off sometimes.

P.S. No need to get arsey

I guess if you hit the bump-stops and there was no travel left in the components then yes, this is normal.

But seeing as you've not really given us much to go on that's about the best I could offer.

S1 or S2? Standard Suspension? Ride Height? Is it making funny noises now since? etc. may illicit a more thoughtful response.

Had exactly the same happen to my R the other week - way too fast on an unknown straight... Car skipped a little and then a bang has it bottomed out - checked for damage but all looks fine.

My 111R experienced its first flight on Sunday

I'd just overtaken one of the many yocles and the road surface turned chaotic and launched my P&J momentarily. Rear end-stops work fine.

Wifey mumbled something about the car having wheels and not wings - I don't think she was very impressed

See here for whether getting air is a good idea:
