Fan cut out temp?
Discussion
Evening all, i had the Elise serviced recently and to begin with the temp seemed to be running a little higher than normal however this seems to have sorted it self out now. Yesterday i got caught in some traffic and the fan cut in at 102 (as usual) however as the temp came down it cut out at about 96, i'm sure it went down more than this before when the odd occasion i got stuck in traffic. of course as the temp went back to 102 the fan cut back in but it was only taking about 2 minutes to raise from 96 back to 102. is this normal? i don't usually get caught in heavy traffic so am not sure.
Any advice, comparisons will be good (its a 52 Standard S2)
thanks

Mine comes down all the way to about 90-92 degrees before shutting off, however remembering that the stack anfd the fans work off a different thermosensor then this is not always consistent. 2 minutes between fan-on and fan-off cycles is about normal for mine when stuck in traffic I think. Mighyt be calling the servicers and ask them if they did anything to change anything to do with this but so long as it's cooling down and not letting it get above 102, then it's working fine

102-fan-96-102-fan-96 etc etc on mine, as with any other car, just 90-102 is about 2mm on most car's temp gauges. Used to feel the heat coming from the wheelarches on my Ford Puma in traffic as proof the fan cut in.
Wise words.... as I said in the last "temperature" thread, the digital thermo display on the Elise is the source of much paranoia..... a few degrees isn't measurable on an analogue gauge.... you only notice at ALL when something is SERIOUSLY wrong... the gauge on the Elise works well and is great, it's just a source of paranoia for those of us who are new to Elise ownership
