I've got a S2 Exige and would never buy one without Air Con. Mine works well which is good as the cabin gets really hot otherwise - don't buy without as you will struggle to sell.

I have no air con in my 111R.

AND I REALIZE : I use to drive with one or two windows slightly open... I can't say it is always warm inside but a bit of fresh air is pleasant.

I do not believe that the weight diff will make a real change in performance and feeling.

So finally, if resale value is affected you should take it.

Just my 2 pc
LOTUS: performance through lighweight,................and aicon, TC, electric windows, cup holders,

Almost certainly cheaper to change car as running the plumbing up front won't be an easy task.

Yep, Aircon a MUST in the S2 Exige. Cabin really does get very hot even with heaters switched off on a cold day, so Aircon comes in very handy if you don't want your windows wide open all the time.

Also Aircon works a treat for demisting the car.

personally ive found it fine without aircon in s2 exige in summer. as for winter i have the heating maxed out anyway.
everyones different but i certainly would not say its a must have. certainly not when its a 1k option

opening windows seems to prevent me overheating.

its not as if we live in a tropical country anyway

On recirc mode, while not a perfect solution, is still a godsend when hayfever is bad.

you cant retro fit as it has to be fitted when the car is built - cheaper to change car as above

An S2 Exige without aircon will be a problem to shift. There are several dealers with basic cars with no air con who cannot shift them and as Bogie says the air con is one of the first things to be fitted so you would have to completely strip the whole car.

You could just get some of those freezer packs and drop them inside your shorts for the same effect

Not got aircon in mine and only on the hottest days is it uncomfortable when stationary. As long as you're moving you're fine. I begrudged paying for something that's a luxury really- its 15kg saved (the same as balast in a touring car race!!)and probably £60 per year to de/re-gas the system. Take the point about seliing on, but then everyone has different requirements. Read a lot of posts about the aircon pipe splitting/breaking too.

Mine does not have an aircon, and I would never buy one with an aircon, for the same reasons above.

I understand the requirement for comfort in an Exige, but what are the thoughts in a 111r.

It'll mainly be used for sunny day driving, with roof off.

Cheers

sunny driving and roof off.

in that case aircon is even more totally pointless.
only works with roof on and windows closed

personally i dont want to drive in an enclosed bubble when its warm and sunny

The aircon in my 111R worked well for me this summer. I remember getting back to the car on one of the hotest days - it was great to drive a few miles, cool down and then take the roof off... I was a total wreck (nearly passing out kind of thing) when I approached the car having walked a fair distance across London so yeah, I'd recommend it. Also works ok with the roof off anyway if you direct the air to your feet.

I guess if you want to keep the weight down then cross it off but how much difference will it really make?

15kgs

I spose 15kgs is a fair bit - doubt it would be noticeable though! All down to personal preference I guess - if the cars for the weekend and blasts then probably not necessary but for everyday use, I'd recommend it.

By the way - hotest day for 100 years today! May need it more than ever bcos of global warming?
