Hi people, ive done a search on here but as usual it didnt work for me! Has anyone on here done the above? And if so how well does the elise go with it? my mate had an ariel atom with a 236bhp jap ctr engine, which was frighteningly fast, but it only weighed 500kilos, does anyone know the weight of a S1 elise with the ctr engine in too? thanks!
:)

Its a well publicised conversion. Have a look on Seloc but the most common conversions are the CTR Honda engine, the Audi 250bhp and 300bhp turbo lumps, and the duratec.

not sure on the price of the duratec conversion but the Honda and 300 bhp audi ones are in the region of £10k, with the 250 Audi one around £7500.

Scuffham is the man to speak to about CTR engine conversions.

If you do a search on Seloc you'll find the weights for all the different conversions. I think the Honda was 800ishKG but it was an exige.

cheers, i was thinking it was gonna be around 10k to do the conversion. Id be more interested in the ctr jap engine tbh to the vag turbo lump, i prefere the noise of the induction to the spool of the turbo! being a turbo too it would be less responsive which imo would spoil the characteristics of the elise.

Assuming you are in Oxford area, get over to Brooke Kensington www.brooke-kensington.co.uk/

they have an Elise S2 Demo car with a JDM spec K20A.

Toadmiester!!!

You failed to ask for opinions on the really important question of which you should opt for to replace your beloved GTi-R:

Cerbera or CTR powered Elise???

I know where my vote would be cast if it helps your decision!!!

Dont forget that you can get the ctr engine supercharged for about £3k too, should you require a little more bite to your burger...

captain beaky- i assume you are the pooman?lol! very true statement by the way! I am seriously considering it now, especially after i thought of julians super chargered ariel atom! could quite easily bolt on a jackson sc onto the ctr engine for a reliable 300bhp elise! now that does sound tempting!

TTS Rotrex supercharger also works by all accounts. 326 horses iirc.

I have a Blink Motorsport CTR conversion in my wife's S-reg S1 Elise. I think it's absolutely fantastic - just the right blend of handling and power for the road, and entertaining in a rolling/goony way on track with the standard suspension. You need to change the brake pads, but apart from that makes it a very entertaining road car - have resisted the desire to meddle further.

Hertfordshire... but if you pop along to any Bookatrack track day they'd be only to happy to show you what it can do!
