I currently have a S1 in Norfolk Mustard with black wheels and am debating putting two balck 'viper' stripes on the car. I've just spotted one for sale in the Classifieds and it really caught my eye...........

Just wondered what the general consensus was among the PH community?

Okay so that's one vote for the stripes.
I was also thinking that perhaps painting the mirrors black might look quite good too?

Since I frequently see a nice Magnetic Blue S2 with White Viper stripes, I would say go ahead and do it. It does look awesome. And makes a beautiful car even more eye catching

I thought stripes would look a bit chav. I had mine striped temporarily for the Furball in July, but it looks so damned good on the Elise that I can't take them off now.

IMO there aren't many cars that can pull off racing stripes but the Elise is one of the few. The lines of the car are halfway there already with that clearly defined central 'no go zone'. Lotus agree - they liked mine so much they ripped it off with (I mean, they were inspired to create) the new special edition. Personally, I'd go thicker than your example - 125mm.

Mine is the blue 111R, the red exige is Twinpipes and the silver beauty is Just1's.

We had a polish session before the harbour run!

Go for it, but I would say that, as that is my S1 for sale

Definatly go for the stripes, Have a look at other options as well, have a peep at the lotus site and check the new sports racer stripes, the blue one is about the same as Goobys and i can tell you that it looks the biz.

Might also be worth taking a look at the "Type 33" stripes.

So as Gooby pointed out to me this morning, its a Type 30. Guess he is starting to get told its a type 33, by me so often, he is starting to make the mistake too.

Are the type 33 stripes the ones on the new limited addition red elise?

have to agree with Gruffy. The elise actually looks good with those stripes. On most other cars it looks like crap.
Go for it

Probably a silly question, but are stripes a respray job or does someone make them as stick-on?

Go for it!

I too own a Norfolk Mustard S1 with black Victory wheels and have been considering exactly the same for some time.

I reckon Matt black stripes would be the ones to go for.
