Had a fairly bad crash last night and ended up with the S1 embedded in a wall. Front end's a right mess.

I think the insurance company will repair it, although they haven't inspected it yet.

I'm assuming I can insist on it being repaired at a Lotus main dealer?

If so, my closest are Chris Neil's or Ribble Valley.

Has anybody got any experience of either for major insurance repairs or generally know which is better?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the accident - are you a)All Right b) everyone else all right? - cars can be replaced, people not. (Sorry but I work in A&E - so the physical is always the first worry)

I know this is way south, but a great deal of major lotus repair work from all over the country gets sent here: They are one of the few official lotus repair shops and I have had excellent experience of them so far. They always do a top job.

Unlucky - your fault?

Pics of damage? The reason I ask is you need to be very careful that whoever's assessing your car for damage knows what to look for. On SELOC recently a guy (Viercant) gave his car a trip through a couple of small walls and knack'd the chassis but the non-Lotus specialist repair place who assessed it said it could be repaired which is a definate

Call Sinclaires if in doubt and see if they can recommend anyone up your way.

Hi Simon,

Sorry to hear about the accident. Hope everything gets sorted out for you.

Tim,

Paul was delighted with the repairs to his S2 by Christopher Neil's. Perhaps he would be able to give Simon some good advice?

Regards

Steve

Cheers for all the advice guys.

Insurance company had no problems with it going to a main dealer and both CN's and LRV sounded OK on the phone. LRV offered a courtesy car and CNs didn't so it's been shipped up to Blackburn. I'll keep you informed of progress for future reference.

Sorry to hear of your accident Mike - it's a real sickener when you hear that fibreglass crunch, isn't it!

I'm still well annoyed about my crash - had a guy pull out very late from a side road in front of me, I slammed on to avoid rear-ending him, skidded on the wet road into the side of an oncoming car and bounced of into the wall on my side of the road. The guy who caused it sped off and no-one got his number - and no way did he not see it happen with all the horn-blaring, tyre-screeching and crunching metal!

I wish I'd run into the back of him now so at least it'd be on his insurance, but you don't quite think straight in a situation like that.

About three months ago I had Pagid pads, braided hoses and Neova LTS's installed and I reckon without them i would have been head-on into the oncoming car and one of us wouldn't have walked away. Best money I've ever spent, I reckon!
