As with many elises, I scraped the underside of the front splitter on a speedhump. Couldn't be asked to pay £500 for a respray with more for the repair. Also, the alvans are only available as a kit with the diffuser and rear wing. The reverie front splitter looks similar, but at way over £500 is an expensive bit of kit to crunch on the next speedhump. Instead I ordered a splitter from eliseparts and bolted it on this afternoon - I haven't decided whether to keep it black or have it sprayed body colour. Totally covers the damage. I doubt whether it adds much downforce, but is functionally quite similar to that on the S2 exige. This one was really light anyway not as light as CF but 1/3 the price.

This is also going to test my ability to post a picture - what a procedure! I had to create webspace with pictures on etc. What happened to copy and paste?

That looks cool! How much? Do you just drill into the fibreglass then?

It bolts on partly using the undertray bolts. In addition you do need to drill boltholes in the underside of the fibreglass, but they would only be visible if you crawled under the car - which is difficult anyway!

Cost was £150 ex vat. Eliseparts are posting an entirely new website this weekend - will be on that.

Shangani,

In the 'Absolute BoLOCs' video it seems you're no longer using this splitter.

Why? Didn't like it afterall?

Anybody else has any good/bad experiences with this kind of 'protection' for the front clam? I hit a curb the other day and got quoted 800€ to get it fixed Now looking into buying some kind of protection myself (for the front clam that is).

Hi - just read this. It is off because it got crunched when the suspension was put on and the car had an MOT. With the lowered ride height it made it really low at the front. Sinclaires have sorted me out with alvan splitters which I have not had fitted yet.

Is your old splitter goosed then, or worth selling to someone (i.e. me) for a sensible price hmmmmmmmm??

Lotus will sell special "winglets" to protect the front of the S2. This was on the lotuscars forum last week. I haven't seen them so far and they do not appear on the "aftermarket" section.
As expected will be €€ but less than a respray....
wait and SEE....

Give Sinclaire's a call - it will need a minor repair of the gelcoat.

Cool! - Give me a shout if you have fitting problems. You will need 8 ~ 5mm bolts iirc (they use a size 8 spanner - this I do remember) (I used 25mm long). Get several large washers to fit inside and out. Obviously you do need a drill bit and you do need to remove the front undertray.

It is also a good idea to get a couple of pieces of double-sided tape at contact points - there is a photo on the reverie website (look at the CF splitter for the S2 - the design and fitting is the same) This sorts out any potential rattles or squeaks.

Good luck. I will not be fitting the alvans myself though - this requires prepping the paint, adhesives etc.

Cheers mate, will probably be a week or so before I fit, but if I get stuck I'll give you a shout.
Thanks again
