Hi

I am considering purchasing the above but would have to use it every day to commute back and forward to work and then to see the odd client.

Has anyone got any experience of this, can shed some light on whether this is a good idea or not.

thanks

Tim

In short, yes. Search forums - this one has been asked many times. Buy one!

hell yes, I,ve had an s2 elise for seven months now and am doing over 80 miles a day in it, and LOVE IT!!! had the roof off this morning in the frost, without the elise i don't think i would bother going to work! running costs are not too bad, i tend to stay away from the main dealers. you'll love it so long as you remember it's not a car it's a HOBBY!

I had an orange S1 Exige for 3 years and had a spell where I tried to use it every day
but! Before I moan I have to say having had several 911's and a 944 Turbo this was the best fun I car I ever owned I should not have sold it I now have an S1 Honda Elise
but as to everyday use I found it really hard work in the rain and a total pain in traffic with the eratic tick over. you cant help but love these cars but hard going as a communter

Hope that helps (only My opinion but I am on my 4th Lotus)

John is right S2 Liz and S1 Exige are poles apart!

I would love one myself but think it could get very tiresome as daily driver.

Think you could fall out of love with very quickly!

One day I'll go for it - but as a weekender / track car only!

I wouldn't like to rely on mine everyday.

Lumpy when cold and is very grumpy in stop-start traffic. Harnesses can be a pain at junctions and as mine has the motorsport cover rear visibility is nil. This is a real pain when you can hear sirens of approaching ambulances but can't see them until they are upon you.

Also, the only time I took it to work I had an altercation between the ramp in my work car park and the front splitter. Worried about getting back out for the whole day.

I'm not trying to be negative, but best to buy a shed for everyday use and keep it for fun.

So whats the big differences?

Ive read through www.elises.co.uk/models/index.html , but on a everyday basis from people who have owned/used both?

I presume the 111R's are much better in terms of engine reliability?

The rover engine is something that puts me off S1's and S2 111S's...

Everyday mota - no problem. Just buy a good one - unfortunately there are many tired ones out there now that have not been properly serviced and fettled....

I drive mine as much as possible - put on 42k miles in 3 years.

Pretty much decided to wait a year and buy a s2 exige as i recon that would be a better bet.
