Does anyone know for sure if S1 Exige is EU type-approved? I tried to find this from the net, but so far without success. I think this should read somewhere in the car's papers, probably in the registration book - maybe someone could check this, please?

I'm going to buy one (import from abroad), but it is impossible to get it registered here in Finland if the car doesn't have EU type approval. I would like to be sure before I go and buy the car.

it *was* EU homologated.

that said, it's now lapst as it was done to EU2 emmssions, and we are currently on EU3 and soon to be EU4.

last date you could register an Exige S1 was back in 2001 (I think!)

not sure what happends if you try to re-register a car in another country?

Should be no problem as long as the car is used and was originally registered on the road somewhere in the EU before middle 2001.

You just need the EU statement of conformity, which Lotus should be able to send you if you ask them.

Bye, Arno.

They were EU homologated and you should be able to get a certificate of conformity to allow registration. IIRC some of the last RHD cars were put through SVA as they could not be registered before the emissions deadlines..... was certainly true on S160's of the same period. Check this before purchase as SVA cars have a different VIN.

Well, I'm not planning to drive it in the wintertime - much.

This year has been very strange though. Usually there is plenty of snow this time of the year, but now it feels more like september. Only wind and rain, so not too much fun yet.
