Hi, i posted a similar question on SELOC, i just thought id get your opinions as well.

I am looking at a 2002 Type 25 with 32k on the clock. Its on for about £15k.

I have spoken to the owner and he seems like a genuine guy - the car is a little more than i really want to spend and i was wondering whether you guys had an opinion of the price, is it about right (i dont want to take the p**s and make an offer if its a fair price already).

Also, is 32k on the clock an issue or would i be better going for an older car with less milage?

Thanks
Mark

Judge it by condition.

Is it in good condition for age/milage?
Has the service schedule been kept to with reputable specialists/dealers?
What condition are the major consumables in (tyres, brake components, exhaust system etc.)?
What's the history like? Tracked? (If so don't be put off, just ask what extra maintenance it's had to keep it tip top - most guys who track their cars keep them in excellent condition and religiously change oil, upgrade parts etc.)

If you like it and the car & owner are genuine get it checked over by a specialist as a condition of your offer being accepted. That will give you peace of mind at a cost of less than £200 and may allow you to bargain further.

Lovely special edition the T25!

Buyers market - I'd offer £13k and go from there. Depends how much he wants to sell.

I doubt i would offer £13k, thats quite a bit less than what its on for - im not that cheaky!

I would deffo get it checked over, but the guy seems genuine. One thing that cropped up was that it would need a cambelt change as its nearly 4 yrs old - i guess id be looking to get it cheaper becasue of that.

Either get him to do it, or knock off whatever your local specialist quotes you to get that done. I'd try for another £500 if everything else checks out.
