Elise S2 Wing mirrors

Can any one tell me if it is easy to take the colour coded part of the wing mirror off, does it just clip on/off???????

I need to get one of mine painted.

I had one apart but its not easy, you just have to ease the outer shell away from the mirror. Remove the mirror assembly from the car first.
Like many moulded parts it snaps together but is not designed to be taken to pieces. I used a screwdriver and profanities.
