Window keeps falling out!!!!!!
Discussion
Blimey, what is it with british cars? Windows falling out of loti and TVRs. The door windows were known to collapse into the door on the 60's Elan, interesting to see they're still doing it.
When MG/BMC built a twin-cam engine in the fifties it was a disaster. Now MG/Rover are/were building twincam engines and it has a godawful reputation for blowing head gaskets etc.
Why do so many Brit car companies struggle with basic construction?

Heebeegeetee - you ought to know - looking at your profile it seems you have owned more than a few. Basic problem seems to be the notion that testing is something that is done by the customers who buy the first cars. Subsequent models have changes that fix many of the problems - side and back windows on S1 - no longer a real problem on S2's. HGF - later models rather better in this regard. Does make you wonder why we get so attached to our quirky British sports cars. You would never tolerate these things from a Japanese Manufacturer. Yet I do love my lotus. Must make you question my sanity in some ways though....[reaches for next dose of lithium]

Thanks, seems like quite a simple fix to an annoying problem

Its funny you should say that, my Dad is a mechanic and used to have Lotus Elans and he said the same, that he was always fixing the windows on them as well as doing head gaskets. He also mentioned that the things that made Lotus great in the 60's are still the same today. You dont so much buy a car like a Lotus more Adopt it!

Yeah, it's a bit of a fiddly fecker but once it's done it's done. The other tip is get some Halfords synthetic spray lube (yellow tin IIRC) and give the runners a good dose. Stops the rubber perishing and the windows just gliiiide up and down!

The Window on my S1 keeps on falling out, it comes off the plastic clips and the window falls into the door! So frustrating, is there any clips or glue that is recomended?

What do you want to drive around with the window up for anyway?? Jeez. Sissy.
Plus with it rattling round in there, you get that proper Lotus sound when you shut the door don't you?
