Totally different cars!

What do you want out of them - e.g. I wouldn't recommend an S1 Exige for lots of motorway driving

erm, so its for pub talk and pulling then?

Drive both. They are totally, totally different cars. You may as well compare 2 cars from different marques. You should know which one is right having driven them.

alternatively, post a picture of each on just seventeen and see what gets more votes.

cant profess to have driven an S1 Exige but even compared to my S1 Elise the 111R is more refined, mad on second cam and more comfortable inside.

For upskirt views, the Exige would win hands down. You get a proper gash shot with the sill height and width on the S1.

When playing top trumps with your mates, there is probably very little difference in figures.

If you want to do loads of trackdays, occasional blasts and don't mind getting very hot in summer as you acn't take the roof off the Exige. Oh, and they can break in an expensive manner - the VHPD can be a big bill waiting to happen.

If you want something to roll out of the garage of a weekend and go for a B road blast then buy a 111S, just as much fun as the R and cheaper.

If you want the above and fancy a screaming Toyota lump behind you and can afford the extra, buy a 111R.

i think based purely on image the s1 exige is taking my fancy.

just worried about the reliability of these machines. guess its part of the package tho, buying a sports car fitted with a k series engine.

hope the s1 sounds sweet aswel.

if you want to turn more heads, cant you just strap in a virgin sheep on the passenger seat?

The K is fine in the less stressed versions but the VHPD variant in the Exige needs rebuilding so might be best avoided. If all you want to do is pose about and do weekend blasts, don't buy an Exige. No one can see you anyway.

What's you budget?

Well £18k won't get you decent 111R or S1 Exige at the moment so I doubt it will in June.

Get a decent S2 111S for 15kish and save some cash.

VHPD is Very High Performance Derivative. The version of the K-series engine that is in the Exige and the Sport 190. It's highly tuned and as a result can be a little temperemental.

i would have thought 18k would get me a decent s1 exige. something like the link below would be well up my street for the cash. relatively low mileage for ita age aswel, dont u think??

I wouldn't expect to see massive reductions. The S1 Exige is rare and prices seem stable. Its almost already seeing classic status so prices may even rise. An early S2 Exige is now falling in line with the later S1 Exiges.

Remember today is the shortest day - hardly the time to flog a sports car and prices are low as a result. I would actually expect to get more for mine in June 06 than I would if I were to sell it now.

good point, i gues demand will increase over the summer!!!

just have to wait and see, if the prices increase, then the budget wll somehow have to rise. only live once, just take out a loan.

nice graduation present for me :-)
