Just popped over from the Griffith section to ask a few questions. My daughter has just bought a T reg Elise, bless her, and I she has asked my to find out; where do you guys fit a multi CD changer? the previous owner fitted it centrally in the cubby between the seats but apparently this get in the way of storing the hood? And... can you get yellow silicon hoses? The Lotus brochure shows red ones but they clash something terrible The dealer gave her a catalogue and has said he will fit an assortment of extras so she's undecided on what to get. Anyway, well done to her she's 24 ind turned out a true petrol head! Rich...

Hi,
My cd changer is on the 'shelf' behind the drivers seat. As the seat is usually a little forward this gives enough room to access the changer and it hides behind the seat. Be careful where you drill the holes as i believe the fuel tank is located below this shelf bit..

Cheers Matt, does this obstruct storage of the roof? Rich...

storing the hood between the seats ?
I store my hood in the boot
Can't help much with the CD changer as I don't even have a radio in my 'liz anymore. Saving weight

Rich,

most people here wouldn't even listen to the stereo, let alone fit a CD changer, but if I was going to, I would try under the dash, on the passenger side.
OTOH, I know somebody installed it in the boot on an S2.

And red/yellow hoses? I know some people change their hose because theirs need to be changed, but chooseing the colour? Check with Eliseparts, maybe they do them.

Depends on the size of the changer i suppose, i had a 10 disc and now a 6 disc which didnt obstrcut the netting at all. I store my roof in the boot though but could still get roof bars etc behind the seat. The cables then run alongside the handbrake and through the metal bit in the footwell.
HTH.

What you need is a single disc CD player that can read MP3 files. That way, you can put 15-20 albums onto 1 CD. Solves space problems of multi-changer and no CD cases ratteling around car! I have a Pioneer one in mine and it works a treat.

DO NOT drill anything on the rear of the passenger cell unless you like fuel leaks and large bills. Strong Velcro (which any branch of Halfords or local Car Audio place should be able to supply) will hold a CD changer fine on the bulkhead.

Personally I'd spend the £300 on an iPod which is a helluvalot simpler and holds shedloads of music. Multiple options for connection to HU both cheap and expensive.

I have a headset that stores music in its memory and plays MP3's. Gives me about 300 songs. No need for anything else really. If you get a DVD headset, you literally have thousands of songs. Don't bother with a shuttle in an elise - headset or ipod. And as Sworks said, do not drill the bulkhead. (Unless you like near East Grinstead burns unit - which will be helpful when you set fire to the fuel tank)

Well done to the Elise boy's,(and gals) a chance to be rude to us Tiv owners and they choose not to. There's still time though.

No - its bad enough for you guys having to drive a Russian car. Would be pushing it to be rude as well. (only joking - not like a TVR isn't designed in the same spirit as a lotus - tad more grunt though)

I would seriously look at Mp3 head units or the ipod opition. Little enough space in a liz without having to install a cd changer.

As far as must haves - aluminium indicator stalks - need to get rid of the vauxhall ones. Same story as the TVR. As far as other mods go - depends on how the car is to be used.

I put in:
1) Harnesses
2) Shortshifter
3) Eliseparts gear linkage
4) Gear plate
5) Larini Exhaust
6) ITG panel filter
7) HID headlights
8) Set of OZ alloys with yoko 048's for track
9) Ohlins suspension - fitting next week
10 Clarion mp3 headset with memory
11) Alpine speakers
12) Leather gear shroud etc etc.

So in other words basically standard elise

yep, nice car! by seeing the longroof, is it possible to convert a longsofttop roof S1(and early S2) to a shortsofttoproof type? like the 2002 and younger Elise's?
thanks
