Hi all,

I'm a bit new to this board and no doubt this comes up alot so forgive me if I'm going over old ground. My S1 Elise is nearly due for it's "C" service (including cambelt change) and I've just booked it into Castle Lotus (www.castlelotus.com/) where I purchased it about a year ago. Anyway, couple of questions, they quoted a fixed price for this service of £695, does that sound reasonable for a main dealer? So far I've been impressed with them compared to others, but does anyone have any good or bad experience with this dealer?

Many thanks for your time, have fun!

for a main dealer that sounds about right, but have you thought of taking it to a specialist?

I got mine done a couple of months back for less than half that price.

If you take it to a good specialist then there is a strong arguement that they do a better job as it is their passion

Thanks for the reply and good point so that brings up the question of are there any recommendations for specialists around the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire area, I live on the border not too far away from the A1?

Its a bit of a hike but try Dan at Jude Performance Services - "C" service costs about £400 inc all materials. He is located in Gateshead, next to the Metro Centre.

If you are gonna pay £300 more to get it done locally fine, but it won't cost you more that £60 in fuel to get to Gateshead and back. very friendly, well known for his expertise and he will even drop you off at the Metro Centre to do some shopping, grab a bite to eat or even catch a movie while your car is done, what more can you ask for!

contact - dan@judeperformance.co.uk or 07834 73 28 92 or 0191 414 7900

Thanks Paul, that certainly is a tempting option but I'm "working from home" when it's booked in to save using up my holiday, not that project timescales would allow it.

I second the work of Dan at Jude-I had just my cam belt done there just over a week ago on my S1 Exige and he did a great job. He showed me what he was doing, how he was doing it, he was very open with me and that is nice unlike some of the main dealers! If you like good qulity service and like to know your car is in good hands I would take it to jude. He only charged me £170 as well. My local lotus dealer (Formular 1) quoted me £390

Agree with Nath

Dan built my engine and the car is now like a missile!

I only have one gripe about F1 Lotus - dealer prices. Chris & Craig at F1 know their stuff too but at a price!
