Hi

Just been reading an old copy of evo and found an article on a product called Permagard.
Seems like a good idea - anyone hadany experience?

Cheers

Its some sort of polimer spary i think. It basically means you dont need to polish your car for a year or so, you then get it topped up 1 yr later - i think it was 1st used on boats.

I also just considering cleaning it myself - saw a link for Meguiars 3 Step Crystal cleaning it. Seems like a nice deal (bit of a novice with car cleaning!)

No experience, but any decent bodywork treatment makes it easier to keep the car clean.

I had a Scooby zymol'd years ago and a quick spray with the garden hose worked wonders.

Hi Towzer - can you tell me how much zymol treatment costs?

From memory it was about £80. My wife works for a company who has their own car valet service so it was probably subsidised.

I just had my Golf done. Bodywork and glass treatment too. Impressed so far, but time will tell. The car looked fantastic when it had been done. The glass treatment makes the water just bead off and most of the time you don't have to use wiper in the rain. It was pricy though at £200 for the car and windows.

Mark,

I use the Meguires 3 stage stuff.

Cleaner, polish then wax.

Hard work (couple of hours?) but the car absolutely zings afterwards and makes it much easier to clean thereafter.

Use it on my Focus as well (panther black) and it looks amazing! Like you could dip your fingers into the body work!

So better on darker colours I think

My local team sell a kit for (I think it was £120) it contains 3 different waxes, the 3 really expensive ones in pots about half the usual size. The dealer says it is about £1k of wax. It also has some wash stuff and the chocolate underwax stuff plus clothes and brushes. Add the klay bar and lube, you have a set up that is incredible and lasts for ages. I love it. It is far better than autoglym and better than swissoil.

It makes polishing your car a real pleasure.

Which kit do you normally order, or do you now pick individuals to refill ?

Or can you just name the pots/items you normally use.

This stuff isnt like Autoglym where you would use a bottle every couple of months and a bottle for every task. I have only baught the polish once, I polish my car at least once or twice a month and I still have at least 60 to 70% of the wax left. It lasts ages.

The consumable products are wheel cleaner, wheel sparkle stuff and the shampoo.
