Charcoal Purge Trap thingy
Discussion
Pretty sure it's my charcoal purge trap thing which is ticking just now. There is a gentle ticking noise when I have the throttle open but it stops on a closed throttle. Car hasn't been out much recently, when it has it's been very cold and it hasn't had tremendously long runs.
Will it just be this trap thing working? Is there anything I should do to quieten it down? This is the first time I've heard it working in a year of ownership.

I get a hollow plastic sounding rattle just as I take the throttle of its stop, and the revs rise just a touch above tick over. Any more than this and its gone. It was suggested that it was the fuel pick up in the tank. Anybody support or trash this idea? Oh, its a 111R too, that may have some relevence.
so to hear it could be something to do with the throttle housing? maybe thats why Lotus shifted to a other way of throttle stuf in the newest model? don't know how to explain it all in English, aaaaaaaaaaaahhh
but I thought I heard something about a new way throttle by wire? so also a new way of movement and parts???
I also found this...
Fuel Vapour Charcoal Trap Purge Valve
A soft ticking noise during warm up coming from over the drivers left shoulder, this is almost always the charcoal trap purge solenoid operating. This solenoud operates under part throttle during warm up to remove trapped fuel vapour from the vapour trap so that next time the car is parked up the trap can stop fuel vapour escaping the fuel tank.
It's normal. Some cars purge solenouds are louder than others

yeah, '06 cars have electronic throttle, this allows Traction Control. They have new design pedals too, steel, not Aluminium. My sound does appear to be from the fuel tank, can only hear it inside car. really annoying as you feather the throttle, or just take up the slack in the cable, but at least it cannot be heard from outside.
